Taking a look at Lemon Essential Oil
Lemon Essential Oil - Citrus limon
Lemon essential oil is extracted from the outer part of the fresh peel of the lemon.
I use this fabulous, inexpensive, oil often in both my treatments and products. It has a light and fresh citrus aroma and can relieve symptoms of anxiety and depression, helping calm and improve your mood, along with many other benefits;
It brightens and preserves skin tone and can be used to help with acne, oily skin, spots and boils, and to improve brittle nails. Used undiluted it can kill warts and verrucas.
Inhaled, when used in a diffuser or an aroma-stick, it can ease morning sickness and improve concentration.
It works on the immune system helping ease colds, flu, fevers and infection and on the circulatory system treating high blood pressure, poor circulation, rheumatism, painful joints and arthritis.
Lemon blends well with : Lavender, Ylang Ylang, Rose, Sandalwood, Chamomile, Geranium and other citrus oils amongst others
Precautions
Essential oils should always be diluted in a carrier and never applied directly to the skin. Always follow the recommended number of drops in your blends or diffuser. If you are unsure how much to use drop me a line or speak to a qualified Aromatherapist.
Lemon can be used undiluted on warts and verrucas but protect the surrounding healthy skin and only apply to the wart or verruca with care using a cotton bud or small cotton pad.
Citrus oils are phototoxic - do not apply to skin that will be exposed to direct sunlight as it can cause redness and inflammation, similar to sunburn.
When buying any oil use reputable suppliers, who test the authenticity of their oils. The packaging should always show the Latin name of the oil - for Lemon this is Citrus limon
Some suggested suppliers that I know do complete thorough testing are listed below:
